{"id":68693,"date":"2023-09-27T14:25:18","date_gmt":"2023-09-27T12:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fud.ujep.cz\/?p=68693"},"modified":"2023-09-27T14:26:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-27T12:26:01","slug":"dirtyglass-by-jan-cihak-as-the-esdw-prize-for-ujep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fud.ujep.cz\/en\/news\/dirtyglass-by-jan-cihak-as-the-esdw-prize-for-ujep\/","title":{"rendered":"DIRTYGLASS by Jan \u010cih\u00e1k as the ESDW Prize for UJEP"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>DIRTYGLASS by Jan \u010cih\u00e1k as the ESDW award for UJEP<\/h3>\n<p>The ETUR Prize for Jan Evangelista Purkyn\u011b University in \u00dast\u00ed nad Labem is made from fritted clear glass waste of various origins, with the brown and green &#8220;veil&#8221; in the block processed from crushed packaging glass powder.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DIRTYGLASS is a&nbsp;project based on the experiment of processing and reusing waste glass, which is intended for recycling and undergoes extensive sorting. A&nbsp;significant portion of this glass is essentially non-recycable and ends up in landfills. Compared to regular glass, it has very low levels of fluxes, which I&nbsp;eventually turned into its advantage. Several blocks and slabs have a&nbsp;very distinct and rough surface after melting because this type of glass doesn&#8217;t fully melt, creating its unique structure and appearance. People who see my projects for the first time are often surprised that glass can look different than they know.
