Cestovní prostor

2015
instalace/objekt, kombinované technika, lamino deska, piánový pant, klobouková guma
250 cm x 160 cm x 30 cm

Tedy problematiky, kterou dlouhodobě má práce sledovala a sleduje.

Travel space

2015
Installation/object, combined technique, laminated board, piano hinge, elastic string
250 × 160 × 30 cm

The installation/object Travel Space reflects the extraordinary measures that lead our attention to the real spaces of our apartments and offices in contrast to the virtual spaces of website and 3D modeling tools.

The work refers to the fascination with the unlimited and dimensionless virtual space (specifically to the introductory, basic, empty scene of 3D modeling tools, which interests me the most, despite all the possibilities of virtual reality) and to the fascination with equally unlimited and in principle dimensionless space of our everyday reality.

The space in the travel package resembles a portable, folding picture/altar. It is a folding Cartesian space. It is a window, an excursion into the purity of empty space, the possibility of infinity, and the grip of the unseen. That is, the issues that my work has been dealing with for a long time.

Jaroslav Prokeš (1977) graduated from the Glass Studio in Architecture led by Marian Karel at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague. He completed his doctoral studies in the field of Visual Communication at FUD UJEP in Ústí nad Labem, with Daniel Hanzlík as his supervisor. He currently works as an assistant professor in the Visual Communication Studio at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec. He has been exhibiting his works regularly since 1996. In his work, Prokeš examines the possibilities of a clean space with site-specific installations. Through a wide range of media, his seemingly minimalist creations point out the specific properties of empty space in art, the dematerialization of the work, or the loss of information in it.
