The workshop introduces students to the issues of contemporary graphics, book art, printing, and paper. It provides an understanding of the expressive possibilities and specific techniques of graphic printing, including relief printing (woodcut, linocut), intaglio printing (engraving, drypoint, line etching, soft-ground etching, aquatint, mezzotint), lithography, and screen printing.

The instruction in the course "Graphic Techniques" allows students to gain direct and practical experience with a specific technology through creative assignments. It serves as a welcome alternative to majority programs focused on a wide range of electronic media expressive options. Instead, it emphasizes "traditional" approaches to creativity (craftsmanship focused on mastering techniques, sensitivity to materials, relation to the culture of books, paper, traditional printing, etc.). As part of the instruction, the workshop naturally provides insight into current trends in the field and in the broader spectrum of visual culture (excursions to contemporary art exhibitions), including offering students space for creative experimentation.
