Bloudění známem neznámem / Wandering through the known and unknown
12 October – 1 December 2023 / Činoherní studio in Ústí nad Labem
Borderland areas of the Czech Republic have stories to tell. Changes in its population and landscape often result in a loss of connection to their past. Meanwhile the stories that have happened and are still happening are usually those that are the most interesting. And the places where these stories happened grant us access. Whether it is abandoned homes, military fortifications, or still-used buildings like hotels, governemnt offices, or churches, each of these structures tells tales of people who once moved, lived, and died here, or had to leave from here. And these places have become the inspiration for the works of Alex Fürstů and Vojtěch Nosek that are drawn from their personal experiences and memories of borderland areas.
The exhibition is thematically connected to the first premiere of this year’s theater season, the drama “Krajina se sklady” by Marie Nováková which tells the stories of people from a West Bohemian borderland hostel and the mysteries hidden in the surrounding landscape. It marks the inaugural exhibition of the curatorial cycle by students of Curatorial Studies at FUD UJEP, curated by Josefína Švehlová and Kristýna Revajová.
