Ambisonic Summer School Symposium
We cordially invite you to the first spatial audio summer school in North Bohemia!
This time phonon~ has joined forces with the Austrian spatial sound platform OTTOsonics, Tangible Music Lab Linz and the Leipzig-based collective ZiMMT, active in the field of experimental music, spatial sound and education. The collaboration resulted in the project Ambisonics – Summer School, which consists of 3 parts:
- a two-week residency for artists selected through an open call;
- a spatial sound symposium open to the public;
- an ambisonic concert presenting the outcomes of the residency.
Out of the fifty projects applied for the artist residency, we have selected a round ten, and it is with great pleasure that we reveal the names of the participants: Daniel Haas, Dimitris Savva, Jakob Gille, Katarina Kadijevic, Lara Hertweck & Ben Meerwein, Daniel Nultý & Ingrid Frivold, Pablo Torres, Veronika Mayer, Vojtěch Leischner & Pavel Husa and Antje Meichsner.
The following lecturers will take care of the program of the symposium: Manu Mitterhuber (OTTOsonics), Felix Deufel (ZiMMT), Enrique Tomás (TAMLab), Jiří Suchánek (SVITAVA, FaVU VUT), Vít Pokorný (FF UJEP), Martin Nitsche (FÚ AV ČR). Artistic supervision will be provided by Jan Burian.
Participation in the lectures is free of charge, although it is necessary to register for the symposium. You can register by sending an e-mail with the subject Participation in the summer school to phonon.crew@gmail.com, mentioning which workshops and lectures you wish to attend.
The residency and lectures will be held in english language at the Löblhof & Artgrund in Staňkovice near Louny, unless otherwise stated. The complete programme is to be found at the end of the text. Löblhof is located 20 minutes by car from Ústí nad Labem, for public transport look for connections to the stop Staňkovice,,rozc.; district Litomerice.
In case of interest, it is possible to arrange an overnight stay in Staňkovice for the duration of the symposium. Please let us know in your registration email and our team will get back to you with details.
The Ambisonic concert will take place on Saturday 29th July at the National House in Ústí nad Labem.

17.-18.7. 10:00 Workshop on maintenance and operation of the multi-channel audio system, Hardware / Software. Speaker assembling + soldering. (Manu Mitterhuber – OTTOsonics)
19.7. 12:00 Multichannel recording workshop with a field trip and introduction of Grapes – a software for live spatialization (Felix Deufel – ZiMMT)
20.7. 12:00 Workshop: tangible interfaces for live performance and composition in multichannel systems (Enrique Tomás – TAMLab)
21.7. 18:00 Presentation: Light and space – photo sensors for spatial audio (Jiří Suchánek – SVITAVA, FFA BUT)
24.7. 18:00 Talk: Rhythm as a Biodynamic Principle (Vít Pokorný – Department of Philosophy and Humanities FA UJEP)
25.7. 18:00 Talk: Phenomenological Topology of Sonic Environments (Martin Nitsche – Department of Philosophy and Humanities FA UJEP)
29.7. 18:00 Talk: spatial audio formats and their application. In the Czech language. (Jan Trojan – HAMU) Presentation of the residency outputs. Both talk and concert are happening in the National House in Ústí nad Labem.
