The commented exhibition tour of “Caught in Words” will take place on Thursday 20 July 2023, at 5:00PM at Ústí nad Labem House of Arts. The guided tour will be led by the exhibition curators along with the exhibiting artist.

The exhibition “Caught in Words” brings possible solutions on where to seek refuge during the information explosion. Addressed artists have created works that offer unique perspectives on literature and stories. We have all encountered literature as a content medium, whether through school or in our free time. For some of us, literature even represents an opportunity to escape from reality into the world of fantasy and stories, a different reality providing the desired shelter. The exhibition, through various exhibited media (objects, paintings, videos), showcases the possibilities for venturing into this world. The selected authors represent a generation that grew up before new technologies significantly influenced human lives, yet they are also accustomed to living and working with these new technologies. In the exhibition, three planes of inspiration can be found in the artworks: the first plane includes specific titles and literary genres, the second plane consists of personal stories of the author’s life intertwined with literature, and the third plane is the act of storytelling conveyed through the artistic work.
