Applied Photography

Studio

The Studio of Applied Photography (formerly the Studio of Applied and Advertising Photography) was led from its founding in 2006 until 2020 by Prof. Miroslav Vojtěchovský, QEP, and MgA. Marian Beneš, Ph.D., MQEP. Over the years, the studio established a strong and recognizable presence at FUD UJEP, and today our successful graduates can be found working across a wide range of fields within creative applied photography. Since the 2020/2021 academic year, the studio has been under the leadership of Jiří Thýn and Václav Kopecký and since 2024 it is led by MgA. Nikola Ivanov Ph.D. and MgA. Veronika Čechmánková.

The Studio of Applied Photography aims to position itself as a space that prepares students for independence, critical thinking, and the ability to form and defend their own perspectives within the diverse landscape of contemporary photography in today’s visually driven society. The studio encourages students to develop a personal visual language and distinctive artistic expression for their future practice.

We operate as a creative collective, fostering open dialogue in a liberal environment enriched by external stimuli. Photography is approached freely, yet always with an emphasis on technical craftsmanship and precision in artistic form. In addition to personal projects, we are also accustomed to applying our visual style and professional experience to commissioned work.

To ensure that our graduates are equipped to succeed professionally, we believe it is essential to approach photography with strong conceptual foundations, interdisciplinary awareness, technological precision, and a sense of formal innovation. If we aim to find extraordinary solutions, courage and experimentation are indispensable—and will always be eagerly welcomed in our studio.
