Product design

Studio

Over the last few decades, product design has significantly expanded its scope. The boundaries between this field, architecture on one side, and fine art on the other are gradually blurring. Thanks to the constant and rapid development of technology, including new work tools, design has become a complex discipline that places high demands on the new generation, while also offering broader opportunities for application and practical implementation.

The main focus of the studio is product design. Throughout their studies, students are introduced to the issues of product development from various perspectives. This includes everything from the technological level of production and material limitations, to correctly understanding the function of a given product within a company's portfolio and marketing strategy, to a socially critical view of production, consumer society, and the designer's role within it, and finally to seeking new paths, concepts, and a purely authorial approach with artistic overlap. The basic principle of work in the studio is to assign a maximum of common tasks to all year groups. This gives the student the best opportunity to confront their work and process with the largest possible number of others, especially more senior, students. Equally fundamental is the realization of projects using real materials and a real scale. Consultations are always conducted together. Students always present their work in front of the entire group. This, along with mutual evaluation of work, constructive criticism, and analysis, ensures the refinement of communication and presentation skills. The studio supports the regular participation of students in international competitions. It also organizes a series of lectures by professionals in the field and short workshops led by a guest designer-professional. Collaboration with companies and assigning tasks in cooperation with them is a matter of course. The study program is designed so that graduates are capable of functioning fully in the field, whether as an in-house designer working for a company or as an independent creator with their own studio.
