Announcement of the Student Grant Competition (SGS) for Doctoral Students of the Visual Communication Study Programme for 2026
The principal investigators of one-year, two-year, and three-year projects may be doctoral students or academic staff members of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP).*
Supervisors of doctoral students must be mandatory members of the research team; however, other doctoral students or master’s students may also be invited to participate in the team.
The SGS Committee will give preference to project proposals whose implementation teams can ensure a significant output in the field of design, art, or curatorial activities (eligible for RUV), while also including a relevant research output (such as a publication or a peer-reviewed article with RIV potential). The Rector’s Directive No. 8/2023, which defines the SGS regulations in detail, can be found via the link provided.
Please note that when preparing the project budget, the principal investigator must comply with the basic condition that more than 75% of all personnel costs must be allocated to students in the form of scholarships.
Project applications for 2026 must be submitted in their final form twice in printed and signed versions to room no. 230 (to the attention of Markéta Chalupová), and also electronically to marketa.chalupova@ujep.cz, no later than 10 January 2026. It is recommended that applicants consult the content of their proposed project in advance with their supervisor and discuss the administrative aspects of the application with the SGS Secretary, Markéta Chalupová.
*An academic staff member may act as the principal investigator of a project only if one of the project’s outcomes is the submission of an external research grant application – within national grant schemes (GAČR, TAČR) or European grant schemes (Horizon Europe, COST, LIFE, or ERC).
