Univerzita Jana Evangelisty Purkyně se stala řešitelem rozsáhlého projektu U21 – Univerzita reflektující problémy regionu severozápadních Čech, který zahrnuje širokou škálu aktivit zaměřených na zkvalitnění výuky, rozvoj výstupních kompetencí absolventů a rozšíření nabídky studijních programů, na zvýšení odborných kompetencí akademických pracovníků, snižování studijní neúspěšnosti a zvýšení zájmu o studium na VŠ a na efektivitu řídících procesů na UJEP, vše s důrazem a vazbou na cíl přispívat maximálně k rozvoji Ústeckého kraje a řešení jeho stávajících problémů jakožto strukturálně postiženého regionu. Fakulta umění a designu se v rámci tohoto rozsáhlého projektu zaměřuje na celkové zkvalitnění a inovaci studia se zaměřením na získávání praktických zkušeností a dovedností v oblasti prezentace výsledků tvůrčí činnosti již během studia. Očekávané změny vyplývají z formulovaného cíle a charakteru inovace výuky na Fakultě umění a designu a jsou vystavěny na podpoře nových technologií a tvůrčích uměleckých metod a jejich integraci do výukových procesů, na propojování výukových aktivit s praktickými výstupy tak, aby byl rozvíjen potenciál studentů a absolventů aktivně se zapojit do posilujících odvětví kulturních a kreativních průmyslů, které bezesporu disponují zásadním potenciálem dynamizovat transformační sociální a hospodářské procesy ve strukturálně znevýhodněných oblastech.

Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (JEPU) became the solution provider of the large-scale project U21 – A university reflecting the problems of the region of northwestern Bohemia, which encompasses a wide range of activities aimed at improving the quality of teaching, developing the output competences of graduates and expanding the offer of study programs, increasing the professional competences of academic staff, reducing academic failure rates and increasing interest in studying at universities, and the effectiveness of management processes at JEPU, all with an emphasis on and connection to the goal of contributing as much as possible to the development of the Ústí Region and solving its existing problems as a structurally affected region. As part of this extensive project, the Faculty of Art and Design focuses on the overall improvement and innovation of the study, with a focus on gaining practical experience and skills in the area of ​​presenting the results of creative activity already during the study. The expected changes result from the formulated goal and character of teaching innovation at the Faculty of Art and Design and are built on the support of new technologies and creative artistic methods and their integration into teaching processes, on connecting teaching activities with practical outputs so as to develop the potential of students and graduates actively to engage in the strengthening sectors of the cultural and creative industries, which undoubtedly have a vital potential to dynamize transformative social and economic processes in structurally disadvantaged areas.
 
In the sense of above mentioned facts it is significant, that the international scientific conference Specifics of Teaching the Theory and History of Art and Design at Art Universities will be realized within the U21 – A university reflecting the problems of the region of northwestern Bohemia project. The conference will take place remotely in the online mode on Friday, October 21, 2022.
